In the rhetorical analysis prompt the writter Florence Kelley who was also a united states social worker who fought successfully for child labor laws and improved conditions for working women. This propmt has three sections section one section two and section three.Florence Kelley used logos ( or mind ) imagery, and pathos (or the emotional effect) to show that these children are suffering for other peoples benifits. She belives that even though the women cant vote they can still make a change talking to their husbands to get them to vote they way the women want to. She also believes she can persuade these states to change their laws using the power that women do have at the moment.
When Florence kelley uses logos or talks statistcly she is trying to show how many children are out at night working for the benifit of others, how late they have to stay out because its legal, and it also shows how old you have to be in certain states to work. In section one of the prompt she says " We have, in this country, two million children under the age of sixteen years who are earning their bread" She told us we have two million children in this country only, under sixteen years old who already have jobs they are getting paid for.These jobs vary in age from six to seven working in cotton mills of Georgia, eight nine and ten year old in the coal breakers of Pennsylvanaia , and to fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen in more enlightend states. In section two she tells us of a few states and their laws on child labor. In Georgia there is no restriction whatsoever if they are tall enough to reach the bobbins they can work. In New Jersey whenever a boy or girl turn fourteen they can work all nitgh.In Pennsylvania it is lawful for children thirteen years of age, to work twelve hours at night. She tells atates this to show statistics and facts about child labor how old they have to be and how many hours they an work. In section three she tells of a way to fix this or to make it stop and since women cant vote at this period in time is enlist the workingmen on behalf of our enfranchisement just in proportion as we strive with them to free the children.
