Conflict theory views social life as a competition; some humans or organizations have more resources than others and use these resources to maintain positions of power in society. In context of gender, women have been dominated by men. In history, men always have the privilege to do things that women can’t do like attend school and inherit properties. Some conflict theorists argue that the reason for this is the dominant group naturally works to maintain their power and status. As a way of maintaining their power and status, men may have been using sex to show that they have power over women.
At our current time, younger teenagers are entering into relationships. Other men in the relationship would say that if the girl really loves him, she would engage in sex with him. Some female would engage thinking that this would prove her love. However according to conflict theory, this is only done by the men to show that they are dominant over the women as it shows control and power over the latter. As a result, teenagers that are engaging in sex increases as they enter to relationship early and they are being pressured by their boyfriends. Moreover, women can also pressure other men as women tries to be dominant rather than be submissive. As these two genders tries to compete for dominance and power over the other, it increases further the cases of premarital sex. This causes the increase in teenagers to have their first sex in their early years as compared to the previous generation in which they have their first sex after getting married.
