Emergency Response Management

State and local agencies and organizations will all directly be involved in the response operations for this incident. State and local police will be used to set up points near the accident so no one can enter. The police will also be responsible in helping any nearby homes that may be in danger to evacuate.

Organizations will be responsible in making sure the people in the communities know what is going on and if they need to take any kind of action. A special trained response team will go to the direct source of the emergency and relay information on what needs to be done to fix the damage and stop the leak. The first course of action is to evacuate the plant and shut it down.

Once evacuated emergency crews can then see if anyone needs medical response. All agency’s will use there chain of command when taking any orders for action. The top chain of command will be the first emergency res-ponders because they are trained for these situations.

The affected populations must be notified to do this we will use the local police and any other organizations to help go door to door to be sure everyone is notified. The local media will also be asked to get the updated information out to these community’s so they know what they should do. The media would be a great resource because they can get the message out to a bigger number of people in a short time.

Direct communication would consist of road blocked stopping people so the police can inform them of the situation. Door to Door communication will also be utilized. To ensure ground zero is contained the police will set up a check point.

The containment of the spill will have to be completed by the first responders as well as the emergency crew the nuclear plant provided and trained. To effectively evacuate all the people direct order will be used. The police will be along the emergency evacuation route and direst the drivers to ensure they are going the correct way.

Visible signs will also be set up to better direst the drivers as well. The challenges that will arise during the evacuation are impatient frantic people. Also there will be people that are disabled that may need assistance to evacuate this is where paramedics and firefighters will help.

A response plan is necessary because without one lives can be lost and many people could become sick. A plan also helps take some fear out of people and make them feel a little better knowing help and action had already been planned. A plan also helps stop confusion and chaos it would be more difficult in an emergency not having a set plan many people may not even know what to do resulting in death or more damage.
