1. Why is environmental degradation a moral problem?
Environmental degradation is a moral problem because it concerns people.
2. What is deep ecology?
Deep ecology refers to the interrelatedness of species as inhabitants of the planet. It approaches environmental problems in a holistic way. It focuses more on how humans live their lives and how it affects the environment in the process.
3. What is our moral responsibility to the environment?
Humans must do their part in preserving and taking care of the environment. We do not have a right to destroy nature just to satisfy our selfish ends or needs. We must think that we do not own the planet. All creatures have an equal right to live here. We are all inhabitants. Thus, we should abuse our planet and think that all resources are unlimited.
4. What is climate change?
Climate change is brought about by the build-up of greenhouse gases like carbon in the atmosphere, which significantly changes the normal or expected weather patterns, temperature and conditions in a specific region of the Earth.
5. Why are rich nations responsible for climate change?
These countries become rich and had experienced economic development because of massive industrialization. They have burned a lot of fossil fuels in their industries and own a lot of cars which also emitted most of these harmful gases.
6. What is the moral duty of rich nations to the environment?
It is their moral duty to reduce carbon emissions in order to save the planet. Considering that they have benefited much all these years in industrialization, and then they must also carry the burden of acknowledging that they are part of the problems of the environment.
