Ethical Perspectives
The two ethical issues presented in the stimulation were The Mysterious Roses and Cold Feet. The Mysterious Roses dealt with sexual harassment and Cold Feet dealt with tampering with scientific test results. With both cases, the decision making steps I had to take were to be attentive, be intelligent, be reasonable, be responsible and be reflective. In the first stimulation, Gayle was receiving roses from someone who was giving her words of encouragement, but was not signing the attached card. Bill was the person who was sending the roses in order to boost her confidence while working on a project and he considered her a friend. Gayle wanted to speak to me (as the Director) in confidence which meant that I had to ensure that I proceed fairly and receive all the evidence. In Cold Feet, Nikolai was a junior scientist who informed me (as the senior scientist) that the report on the test results were bad, while Phillip, the Division Medial Director stated that all the results were positive for a new teen supplement. There are many stakeholders involved, but Gayle and myself are high priority because I am the leader who has to make the best decision possible and Gayle who does not want to upset the workplace. The results is to tell Gayle that I will keep things confidential if it is a personal matter, but if it is work-related, I must report it; she needs to review the handbook before meeting with me.
When working on Cold Feet, the perspective lens used were relationship and reputation. In this stimulation I am the senior scientist who uses these lens to make sure my ethical actions are fair and guarantees fundamental liberties; plus live up to the standards and values of our community under the reputation lens. As the senior scientist I must know the basic
