Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explain the reason for the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This paper will also provide a basic logic model for this piece of legislation as well as explain the evaluation of the research that was done.

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001

The NCLB Act was signed into law by former President George W. Bush in January 2002. The purpose for creating this act was to insure that every child would get a fair chance at education, especially disadvantaged children and minorities. The NCLB set requirements that reached into every school in America. This Act would hold states and schools more responsible for the children’s education.

There were a number of measures designed to broaden student achievement, some of those measures were: annual testing, academic progress, report cards, teacher qualifications, reading and funding changes. All of these measures would work together to improve education across the board in the United States.
