When I checked the assignment box that I need to review in the book of application 3.1, and I though it will be sure boring and monotonous to go through with the long process of norms, rules and HR process of organization, but while I was reading this reviews by internal and external OD person, I found this reviews very interesting, information and educating. Previously I took many organization classes but I found it very boring and I was not able to identify what exactly the role of OD consultant, now after reading reviews of internal and external consultant of OD, I realize how important and valuable position to work as OD consultant.
External Contactor of OD
After reviewing the external contactor viewpoints I think this position might require a many years of experience of internal practitioner, because external contactor are might assigned by short period of time and within in short term range they need to identify the exiting problem and find out the possible opportunity to develop the organization system. The external practitioner is someone not previously associated with the client system. They are usually coming from the outside, the external practitioner sees things from a different viewpoint and from a position of objectivity. Because external practitioners are invited into the organization, they have increased leverage and greater freedom of operation than internal practitioners. Research evidence suggests that top managers view external practitioners as having a more positive role in large-scale change programs than internal practitioners. External contactor is considered as a smart and expert, they got called only when their internal OD practitioner failed to identify the problems and existing opportunities to develop the organization.
