Confidence
Likeability

well-informed (conscientious)
emotional intelligence
Firm but not rigid
influential in a positive way
Charismatic (make people feel comfortable to be around with)
Integrity
- be more specific
- is it relative?
- situational
- a leader can only operate with cooperative (either willingly or not) followers
Different cultures would refer to places like the middle east VS the Chinese (communism) VS the west (democracy)
Basically a certain set of leadership traits which might work in one culture might not in another (situational)
Criticism might be an issue (some cultures might not receive it well)
- therefore, leaders might not be able to effectively communicate with their followers and improve them
Certain firms might not be able to deal with firing or removing a high positioned person from their place due to bad emotional controls as it may reflect badly on them.
All these happen after you actually become a leader:
- A grandiose sense of self-worth will to an extent be negative
- Self-awareness should be an important aspect to invest on
You trust leaders either because they are more capable and/or you were influenced over a period of time to believe so or actions prove so.
Class 2
Weaknesses and strengths should be viewed as a two way street.
When describing strengths, go in-depth. Describe how talented you are and add on what you did to that talent during certain circumstances (negative or positive). OR you could go about mentioning what strengths that are still rough on the edges and are working on it still.
When asked what a leader needs to have, think about what a leader needs to function as a leader.
