Some issues affecting institutionalized juveniles are sexual abuse and suicide. Juvenile that are institutionalized are being raped by employees that work at the facilities and some of the juveniles that are being place in these facilities are so depressed that they do not have the freedom they had before they committed the crime.

The justice system should be aware of these issues so they can help the juveniles that are depressed deal with their issues before they try to commit suicide and the institution should have employees that can help with the counseling process. The justice system should also pay attention to kids who say there are being abused in institutions not just over look it like it never happen or like the juvenile is just making it up for attention.

When a juvenile is released from an institution they are places in an aftercare program before they are released back into society so they can adjust to the ways of society.
