A television show, that I believe clearly displays social deviance would be Lucifer. The show is about Lucifer deciding he no longer wants to run Hell, so he retires from his duties and moves to Los Angeles. I believe Lucifer should be considered the King of deviancy for several reasons. Lucifer is an angel that fell from Heaven because of his pride, which apparently in God’s eyes is a sin. That automatically puts him at the top of many people’s lists of “bad guys.” He also loves to torture souls that come to Hell, which is also pretty deviant, although many people do like to torture others (humans can be very violent).
The Lucifer in the show runs a nightclub and indulges in typical deviant activities such as sex, alcohol, making deals with people, and of course showing off. A murder happens outside of his nightclub with a girl who made a deal with him. Due to the murder he meets a homicide detective that is able to withstand his charms, and that intrigues him to the point of getting approved to be her partner. He then starts changing and becoming more mortal, and in one episode he burned his wings to defy God. The show is still young (in its first season) and we are starting to see other changes in Lucifer such as him gaining compassion for humans, and starts wondering about his own soul. I am very excited to see how this plays out.
The people that are labeled as socially deviant from the expected norms would be Lucifer, however there are two other people who we are just finding out about that would be considered deviants. Both are detectives one appears to be a dirty detective and the other I’m not sure about just yet. They have not given enough information to go much further with their story line, and all I know about it is one of the detectives shot the other detective that appears to be a “dirty” cop. Lucifer however, is labeled crazy by most of the people he encounters because he is honest about who he is. Very few people actually believe he is who he says he is, and his psychiatrist has started acting like she believes him because another angel (she didn’t know he’s an angel) told her to just go along with his story. His partner has labeled him as annoying, and a bit crazy, and the detective’s daughter likes Lucifer because he is funny. Maze is the demon who is Lucifer’s protector and she has labeled him as getting soft and changing. An angel (I don’t know his name) that has been put in charge of Hell while Lucifer is away agrees with Maze and has teamed up with her to try to get Lucifer back into Hell. This angel has also hired the “dirty” detective to kill Lucifer, and the dirty detective hired the detective that shot him
