You may never see me again. Last week, I bought a few packets of milk candies from a supermarket. From the newspaper and TV reports, I learnt that this brand of Chinese-made candies have been contaminated with melamine - which is used in plastics and pesticides. I really hope that I haven't eaten them and have given them to my brother instead. Now, it is too late. Fortunately, I am not the only victim. More than 13,000 children have been hospitalized. The contamination has also caused the deaths of four children and kidney ailments among 54,000 others
Hearing about the news, has completely shocked me. How could the food company do such a thing? Doesn't it know that melamine can cause health problems? It must know that melamine cause kidney stones, leading to kidney failure, or even death. This incident is ridiculous. The producers add melamine to food to make it appear as if it contained a higher amount of protein, so that the food can pass the protein tests. If one earns money by harming others, that money is considered as dirty money. At that time, a crime is also committed. Sometimes, we have to think before we act in order to avoid making wrong decisions. The company should ask itself this question: Is money that crucial? Is it worth risking other people's lives to get money? The company has made a big blunder in its decision. We shouldn't tolerate such behavior, otherwise, it will get worse the next time. The company must take full responsibility for its wrongdoing and be willing to take any punishment as set out in the local laws.
After this incident, I have learnt a lesson---- let my brother try the food first.
