Physiotherapist:

Professionals who are experts in movement and function of the body. Physiotherapists treat and manage acute injuries such as ankle sprains, knee injuries and other fractures, but also chronic conditions such as lower back pain, diabetes or heart disease.

Occupational Therapist:

Occupational therapist work with adults and children who have mental, physical or social disabilities since birth of from recent accidents, illnesses, ageing or lifestyle. They work in different environments such as hospitals, rehabilitation centres, schools, small medical offices and even client home. They create treatment programs for individuals, to help develop their confidence and independence.

Dental Hygienist:

A dental professional focuses on oral hygiene. They carry out procedures such as scaling and polishing teeth. They work in hospitals and in community dental services, but most commonly in a general dental practise. Their duty is to educate patients on the proper methods to brush, floss and ways to improve and maintain good oral health.

According to figure 1, recent research has stated that within the Health Care and Social Assistance industry the percentage change in employment trend is by 5%. Also, health care and social assistance is responsible for 13.7% of total employment in South Australia, which is the industry which employs the largest number of people in Australia. To further confirm this statement, according to skills.sa the health industry in particular employs 53, 800 people, which is 6.6% of the South Australia's workforce.
