RACE AND NATIONAL ORIGIN

Summary

Race is divided with the following categories: Caucasian/white, African American/black, pacific islander/native Hawaiian, and American Indian/Alaskan native.

The patterns of movement are showed in three stages:

1. Stage 1 emphasizes the three C’s: confidence, competence, and credibility.

2. Stage 2 mentors and sponsors are fundamental for career advancement.

3. Stage 3 experience and individual success directly related to company’s core strategy.

Mentoring challenges helps resolved crossed-race issues like negative stereotypes, identification and role modeling, skepticism about intimacy, public scrutiny, and peer resentment.

I have been working since I was 18 years old. A police station was a tough environment for an inexperienced young adult. Many times I felt like giving up but the Police Superintendent was my sponsor and mentor. He always found a way to make me realize what I could loose if I was to give up. His experiences made me realize that you need to know someone to be somebody.

This is something I disagree with. My work sponsor was right but many times I felt this was inappropriate.
