In order to understand this paper, person have to understand what does term “social media” mean. Wikipedia states “Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks”

In a picture below you can see the image listing different kind of social medias. As you may understand from the picture, they all need internet connection. Without internet connection social medias wouldn't exist at all. Internet is basic thing to social media.

21st century is named as age of technologies. I would name it as age of internet technologies, because it is the thing which ordinary citizens as me face it daily, and feels how Internet is becoming part of modern people. If in last century people have been reading newspapers each morning, to stay in tune with today world, so today as technological progress went up, we read news from internet sites, which are being updated more frequently, which means people are accessing news faster. But, technological progress went more faster and most modern people of today world access news from social medias, such as Twitter, Facebook & Youtube.

First I would like to introduce you Twitter, which from my side of view got a biggest power in social medias. Twitter is an internet microblogging service which allows to write and send 140 characters text messages. Headquartered in San Francisco, got branches in New York, Austin, Detroit and Boston. Was created in 2006, by Jack

Dorsey and Evan Williams. Service gained popularity very fast, 500 million accounts registered by 2012, 200 million of which are active and posting 340 million messages (aka “tweets”). Listed top-10 visiting sites in the world by the year of 2013. In 2013 went to IPO, on the first day of trading on the NYSE, Twitter shares opened at $26.00 and closed at US$44.90, giving the company a valuation of around US$31 billion. Twitter major markets are USA, Japan and Indonesia.

Twitter even nowadays still getting more popularity, 135000 new users are being registered daily. Company plans to get new users from emerging economies, cush as Brasil, Russia and India.

Second, by my personal ranking of most powerful social media is Facebook. Even though it’s main service is social networking, part of Facebook users use it as kind of social media. Facebook was founded in 2004, by Harvard student back then, Mark Zuckerberg. Initially launched to find and chat with people inside Harvard, later expanded to other universities, and nowadays “conquered” whole world. By September 2012, it had one billion active users, which were adding & commenting pictures & videos and sending messages to each other inside the social network.
