SHOULD BOXING BE OUTLAWED?

There are many sports in the world which are considered to be violent and a debate ensues when one questions and wants to cease the very existence of these sports. Boxing is one such sport among many others which include martial arts, American football, lacrosse, wrestling and others.

Boxing has been very popular from centuries. Now, boxing has become a professional sport and there are people who want to pursue a career in boxing.

Violence is prohibited by law and general public is supposed to be kept away from violence, especially the young ones. However, we allow everyone to enjoy boxing as a sport which involves shear violence, blood, and gore. One such argument is that boxing is a way of life and provides for the well-off lifestyles of athletes. If boxing is banned, the athletes that rely on boxing would not be able to earn their living and hence become a liability for the society.

Although boxing is watched widely all over the world, not many people are ready to choose it as part of their own lives. They just enjoy boxing as a sport, but do not want to become boxers themselves.

Boxing is one of the sports which endanger the physical and mental wellbeing of the athletes and in a broad view, the life of their families as well. In this sport, the more aggressive the athlete is the more he is respected. The bouts actually end up only when the opponent becomes unconscious and he cannot get up to fight even further. Maximum harm and injuries to the opponent is the ultimate objective of this sport.

There are innumerous other arguments that go against as well as in favor of boxing. However, it is an unending debate if boxing should be outlawed.
