Social Media Hijacking People
After reading this article, I can recall some stuff going on during the start of 2009 and then forth. I didn’t watch much news then, and even less now, however I have the tip of the iceberg at least. This article helped get the part below the water, and a few things popped out here more than others. How Democracy through social media is being toyed with and heavily poked at, when you got people like Donald J Trump tweeting around and not making most concern on what people actually want in a majority. However before 2016, there was news and spread about Facebook and Twitter revolutions, known as the Social Media Revolution. The whole concept of the elimination of tyrants for strengthening democracy on social media was tested with to its fullest. It got so far where eastern places starting firing off, the Arab Spring. What struck me is that the way some stuff was done was how these countries would use the algorithm of these social media platforms to push bigger audiences to their lead, starting off with subtle things, consisting of mostly propaganda, and overall just things that weren't true. I got the vibe that maybe this really was going to explode into a revolution, and it did in some ways. Social media posts strive to be the most appealing and user attracting, which meant that these countries would go so far to study how a person's dopamine would react to certain posts and positives. They would try everything, but not recklessly either, so more chances would still be an option. Also these kinds of propaganda posts wouldn’t appeal to people like kids, and some teens, including me. While I’m not the biggest on politics on social media, sometimes it’s shoved down everyone's throats. A huge example being the constant tweeting popularity of Donald Trump.
