Summery of Study English

Compared with other students, I guess that I require some effort in writing and listening. When it comes to writing, I need to pay more attention to my grammar and vocabulary. This is because I cannot use the grammar and vocabulary accurately sometimes, and I would be likely to make some mistakes when I write my essay. For instance, I would make some errors in using words. It is means that I know the words, but I could not use it in a right way. Besides, my speed of writing is slow. I prefer to use the Chinese to think the content of essay and translate it to English, which waste a great deal of time to thinking how to translate Chinese to English. Another difficult thing in studying is listening. Actually, I cannot adapt to the speed of the video, and I might be confused about what the video talk about sometimes.

Overall, I need to do more practice in writing and listening. In terms of writing and listening, I should know the meaning and usage of words fully, and reduce the mistakes in writing. At the same time, I need to know the pronunciation of works, which would help me to improve my listening.    

Apart from this, I engaged in some independent learning, because my listening and speaking need to improve. On the one hand, I learned listening independently using some websites, such as BBC news, TED and VILC. I prefer to listening videos and make some notes about the video, which can help me to grasp the main idea about the video. Meanwhile, if I cannot understand due to speed quickly, I will read the translation and listening again. On the other hand, I read some article about finance. According to reading financial articles, it can help me to master academic vocabulary and improve the speed of reading. Overall, I think if I want to improve my English, the most important thing is perseverance.
