Why is it a man’s world?

Religion, Education and Glass ceiling as main causes of man’s world

Man’s world means male predominance and inequality between men and women in the world. Often we think men-women’s inequalities are only a problem of countries in development because the consequences are more important than consequences in developed countries. However, we have to resolve this problem in a world if we want a main evolution of humanity and try to stop horrors against women in some countries.

The question is where these inequalities come from?

Religion

In my opinion the main cause and explanation of this man’s world is the religion because most of time it is the basis of our society, civilization, the older form of education. Inequalities between men and women is in all religions, Christian, Jewish and Muslim.

First of all in the genesis, god created Adam from earth and he created Eve from Adam. That means since the beginning, women needed men to be. I think this version of our origins has conditioned humanity’s mind.

In Christian religion the role of women is reproduction two facts illustrates it. Eve is forgiven provided that she procreates in pain. Then the only respectable woman in the bible is Mary because she is Jesus Christ‘s mother. Moreover in the bible a section shows inferiority of women: “Epistle of St.Paul to the Ephesians” where it is recalled the duty of submission of the wife to her husband.

In the Muslim religion women can’t become an imam and have to wear the veil in sign of respect to god and to avoid tempting men with their beauty. Once again, it’s women who are in cause.

In Jewish religion it’s the same thing. Women can’t be rabbi and have to hide their hair not to tempt men.

Education

Another cause of man’s world is education provided to children, their first steps in the society. Early school and parents give to children some values and norms to live in the society. That begins with fairy tales and games and contributes a lot in stereotypes since the youngest age. For example, girls play with dolls as a mother or play dinette as to be prepared to their future household duties whereas boys play with cars.
