Case Analysis of Midsouth Chambers of Commerce
With the growing demand, Leon Lassister the Vice President of MSCC went with the UNITRAK software which he believed will benefit the company in long-run. MSCC’s main problem was they could not hire the person with specialized background in information systems. They hired Simon Kavecki an information system support specialist who just graduated from College to migrate from the current system to the UNITRAK system. Kavecki took long time to migrate as he had no experience and due to poor documentation, he struggled to migrate most of the data into the new system. He migrated about 15% of the data to the new system and the new system was not able to operate properly and still more problems occurred resulting corrupted data and backing up problems. UNITRAK even filed for bankruptcy which made Kovecki leave MSCC.
After Kovecki MSCC hired Gramen. Gramen also had tough time to learn about UNITRAK so he suggested MSCC to replace UNITRAK system. MSCC decided to go with Gramen’s advice and buy HP’s system. This decision even brought more problems to MSCC because they did not review the contract which resulted them to spend more money on the solution of DMA and they were stuck with DMA.
