Introduction
Communication in groups/teams
Communication is essential to life. No matter what aspect of life an individual may find themselves in there has to be a good line of communication. Without communication the world would not function as well as it currently does. “We all understand and appreciate importance of communication in our days. A breakdown in communication between people can result in problems that can be unsolved. This is the reason why communication is necessary in world of business for conducting business in efficient manner” (Spaho, 2010). The time when communication is most important is when working in a group or a team. When in a team setting there is a lot of depending and working with others for a common goal. If the communication is not effective, that will not be a failure or a negative consequence for one individual but the entire team or group. The main reasons why communication is especially important in a group or a team are because the livelihood of the whole team is at hand, the consequences of ineffective communication can be tragic, and last good communication will bring out some of the best results.
Communication Concept
One of the main reasons why because there is a lot of dependency on communication when it comes to specific jobs. For example in the medical field there has to be a clear and concise line of communication when it comes to patients and certain procedures. Communication within health care is a complex process. It involves many individuals acting within a formal organizational setting, with a multitude of organizational, professional, and personal factors influencing their interactions and work patterns (Szekendi, 2007). The lines of communication of
mean life of death for the medical professional career. If a doctor and nurse go in to perform a surgery on a patient and does something wrong, they could be sued and the consequences could cost them their career.
Concept Application
In the same scenario, if the doctor instructs the nurse to give a certain amount of pain medicine before the procedure and she give two units more than instructed, the patient could lose their life. If a patient loses their life because negligence on the hospital and/ or its staff it will be very costly on the hospital part. In conclusion communication is an essential to life. It is important in every aspect of life especially when working in a team or a group setting. Group communication can be very important when working in the medical field. It could mean life of death literally. The process of communication means a great deal to me. It is the livelihood of almost every moment of every day of my life.
