CRM Applications: Salesforce versus Apptivo
Functionality
Starting with Apptivo, it is a platform which aims for integrating useful business applications together so that their users have the convenience of not having to put together data from different sources or programs. With more than 40 cloud-based business applications, they are putting the frequently used applications in areas such as project management, human resources, product management, supply chain, financials and of course CRM, to be in the syncronized format so that data can be retrieved among different applications. In other words, all applications communicate with each other. It can be said that Salesforce has somewhat a similar domain concept as Apptivo. However, the significant difference is that Salesforce focuses on the aspect of CRM.
As for other specific features, Salesforce has more availability in analytic, collaboration, and customer service features. Some that Salesforce have but Apptivo does not are, for example, forcasting customization, chat, mail merge, remote access, or call center management. Most importantly, Salesforce supports various international languages while Apptivo is only available in Englsih. In Channel Management aspect, however, they offer the exact specific features such as multi-language and multi-currency offerings. On the other hand, Apptivo offers more specific features in the areas of sales automation and general support. Some that Apptivo offers but Salesforce does not are 24/7 customer service, email, help desk, or live chat. This can be considered as a major drawback of Salesforce.
For the similarities, both Salesforce and Apptivo’s CRM function are beneficial in the aspects of analytics, channel management, customer service, integration, collaboration, marketing and sales automation. Industry wise, they would support CRM for various industries such as healthcare, finance, education, manufacturing, media, or even non-profit. In addition, both websites use deployment model of Software as a Service (SaaS).
In contrast, Salesforce is suitable for CRM in large businesses while Apptivo is designed more for small and medium businesses. Because of this fact, Salesforce could be used in government agencies when Apptivo is more appropriate for smaller industries such as consumer goods, hospitality, or certain professional services. Moreover, Salesforce focuses on the implementation of “Sales Cloud” which means that when all information are stored at a central and secured server, users are able to access their business’s data and utilize Salesforce’s application wherever the internet is available.
