Reflection

Design and Development of Multimedia for Instruction was among my top courses throughout my study in the field of Instructional Technology. The integration of technology into the classrooms was highly emphasized as we moved forward in this process. I truly desired engaging in this study simply for the reason that hands-on activities were the prime goal to be achieved within this curriculum. Although learning how to utilize multimedia, consisting of text, graphics, audio, video, animation, and interactivity in my undergraduate years, this program was a more in-depth extension on the subject. A major principle for implementing multimedia into the curriculum was to ensure that it pertained to and enhanced the instruction. Also, it was important to make sure that these various types of technology kept the audience in focus. The application that was greatly executed within this study to aid in facilitating instruction into a curriculum was Microsoft PowerPoint. Basics included employing text, using bold, italics, changing font sizes, color, and the like. Exploring through slide transitions, custom animations, and schemes were learned to enhance the interface, as well as, the instruction. Significant aspects were outlined on how to manipulate this product. Some of these details included learning how to integrate movies and sound into an instruction via numerous search engines from the Internet, such as Google, Alta Vista, Dog Pile, and the like. We specifically learned to use Windows Movie Maker to develop a movie, gaining knowledge on filming different sections of the film to later edit it and add sound to it. Hyperlinking to files within PowerPoint and/or WebPages from the Internet was another feature that I was first introduced to in this course. Action buttons and even graphics were learned to use as a form of hyperlinking to these various positions. Another key feature that I learned about in this course was how to create a web page.
