Jumia is the largest online retailer in Nigeria. It was established in 2012. Through the years, jumia has succeeded in establishing itself as the biggest online retail store in nigeria. According to so so and so, they have daily unique visits of over 100,000 to their e-commerce websites and are ranked the 4th local content site in Nigeria

With the emergence of e-commerce in Nigeria in recent years, there has been a major increase in the number of online retail stores. Some of these stores include; Konga, Kaymu, Fashpa, OLX, Shugakane .

According to so and so Konga is regarded as the strongest competitor to Jumia in the Nigerian market. Jointly, Jumia and Konga own a majority share of the online retail industry, so it can be considered to be a duopolistic market. The rest of the market is made up of smaller and largely unknown players.

Some of Jumia's retail categories include electronics, fashion, furniture, hardware, with the fashion and electronics category being the major revenue generators. Having a wide range of categories can be identified as one of Jumia's advantage to being successful in Nigeria. Other retail stores focus on one or just a few categories.

Jumia has a working staff of over 1000 employees and also have 18 delivery hubs scattered around major cities in Nigeria. Jumia strategically placed their 90,000 square foot warehouse in Lagos state which is the major business hub in Nigeria.

Jumia owns a 9000ms warehouse which main function involves product storage. One major issue would include managing product portfolio (inventory) and storing of products in different locations of the warehouse. When inventory or stock is being taken, products would need to be placed in strategic locations to enable access for easy retrieval and distribution. One dss technology or help with this process is having a Data warehousing.

A Data warehouse contains information ranging from measurements of performance to competitive intelligence. (tanler, 1997). Jumia can have a data warehouse for administrative operations, transportation and distribution activities. Focusing on the warehouse management system, the Data warehouse will include information about the different category of products. Also, there will be implementation of metadata i.e a clothing item will have data about its style, color, size and the quantity available.

(I think you mean a warehouse management system. Data warehouse means something slightly different. It’s literally like a warhehouse, but for raw data about a business. E.g.
