        I have learned a great deal about copyright infringement in both a literary sense for academics, and in terms of digital property in my internship. Digital content is able to be and often protected by laws that are meant to identify the originator as the owner, not allowing it to be used by another without expressed permission. This can apply to images, code, or floating licensing. Images could possibly be the most practiced type of copyright infringement in terms of websites.

We have all likely saved an online image at one time or another and republished it elsewhere without permission. That is a risk one takes when any piece of information is published. However there are laws that actually allow images to be claimed for ownership or determine them to be available for public use. A minor issue with using photos without permission, is when it is reported and removed. It is wiser to begin with images that you have permission to publish.

The use of another developer’s code is probably the most harmful. The original writer receives no compensation for their work, which you are benefiting from. You can usually mimic the design of a website without crossing any legal boundaries if you write the code for your website on your own. If you use your inspirations code directly, it is no longer inspiration, it is illegal. This can stain your reputation in the long run, and cause you legal issues in some cases. Your site will likely be pulled and if it is for a company that contracted you, you can kiss any recommendations to other companies’ good bye.
