Introduction

Removement of waste rocks is one of the key issues in mining operation process.As the Marsupial Mining Corporation describes, an efficient and cost-effective method is needed for them to carry out a successful completion of exploiting Numbat deposit via an open pit operation.In order to ensure it, the most appropriate fleet are required to be chosen by estimating the costs involved which including Expected cost of loading in $/year and $/tonne as well as Expected cost of hauling in $/year and $/tonne. Also, it has to meet the production target for waste removal. Due to a corporate arrangement, the loader(s) can only select a Komatsu “Face Shovel” model, while the truck(s) can only select a Caterpillar model. To clarify the reason of choice for loaded(s) and truck(s), the calculation results will be provided using the parameters in given data sheet and appendix.
