Networking security is crucially important in many different areas of business. For example, an article on lawsuits filed against News Corp.'s U.K. newspaper unit proves this. In this article, the unit has been the victim of a number of civil lawsuits by people claiming that phone-hacking has nearly doubled in recent weeks. The victims of the phone-hacking include; celebrities, politicians, victims of crime, and others. They are claiming that the company's tabloid newspaper breached their privacy by intercepting their voice-mail messages. In this situation, networking security would help immensely with this problem. Phone companies should have better security against hacks into their phone systems. If not preventing such attacks, the companies should come up with a means of being able to find out who performed this breach of privacy.
The next article I read was an article concerning a website posting a 205-page draft of a memo that laid out critical elements of the proposed Volcker rule for banks. The Volcker rule has already triggered major changes at large US banks. Several institutions have already shut down trading desks. Its impact on the industry's profitability and risk-taking will be hard to measure until after the rule takes effect. The officials inside government agencies worried that the leak could lead to pressure to change the language ahead of the FDIC's upcoming meeting. Regulators could feel pressure to refrain from changes that could make it appear that they had given in to industry pressure. With better networking security, it could have prevented the leak of such an important memo. In the future they could possibly be sure that where they are placing the memo is completely secure and not vulnerable to attacks which could lead to the memo being stolen and later leaked to the public.
Another article I read that would stress the importance of networking security in a business would be the launch of the iPhone 4s. Apple is the largest manufacturer of smartphones today. Networking security is very important for them as to not let outsiders find out
