The argument that guns protect people is absurd.The only purpose of guns is to kill, which is why they cannot be weighed against knives or wrenches .Legalization can also cause more domestic violence, gun trafficking, and suicide.There is a higher chance of somebody getting killed if you get in an argument with an armed civilian too.Even if the common arguement is true, one can defend oneself using a gun, most common people cannot bring out a gun to stop the attack .They should because it would be a safer world, animals would not be hunted as much and the yearly death rate would decrease. You can’t exactly just kill a tiger or elephant with a knife, but a gun you can. It would be a safer world because terrorists would not be such of a big threat because they would not be able to buy guns as easily. Humans are the main reason animals are getting extinct. If you hunt too many of one species then its prey will over populate, causing wildlife problems . The last reason guns should be illegal to civilians is because then the death rate would decrease drastically. The only reason to have a gun is to hunt or to kill humans. There is no reason you should have a gun to protect yourself, that’s why we have the police . Consider this, if a psychotic shooter saw an XM-15 Bushmaster sitting on his table, the intimidation and motivation would continue unabated. However, if such weapons were banned, motivation will dwindle as the perpetrator would need to go through many blackmarket and illegal places, which are maybe unreachable due to their lack of knowledge.Really, if you allowed guns to be bought, you're just doing half of the criminal's job for them. All there is to do? Go and shoot somebody. Don't you see the problem there? Regulation doesn't work. For instance, if you allow a mentally disturbed person to have a gun (like in Columbine) they can go out and shoot people with it.
