Technology
In today’s world it seems that world to me that technology is taking over the world. Today I am going to be discussing the four things that seem to be affecting our society when it comes to technology. These items seem to be affecting our society in a positive matter but sometimes in a negative way as well.
TECHNOLOGY THAT IS AFFECTING SOCIETY
Cell Phone
Over the last two decades the cell phone seems to be the number one asset for everyone to have. I have lately seen more and more children having cell phones. Even at ages of 3-5 years old. Even that makes me believe that the cell is taking over the world!. The cell phone is now 40 years old. Martin Cooper made the first call ever in New York City on a Motorola DynaTAC, which used 30 circuit boards and took over 10 hours to recharge, yet only offered some 20 minutes of talk time.
Out of the world’s estimated 7 billion people, 6 billion have to mobile phones. Only 4.5 billion have access to working toilets. Now there is a dirty fact. Modern cell phones are capable of much more than just sending and receiving phone calls. Mobile phones used in today’s world allow users to send and receive text messages, emails, photos and video as well as access the Internet, play games, listen to music, use GPS and more. The cell phone has become the number one selling electronic device. It beat all the appliances’ and TV’s in every household.
The Computer1
The computer has come so far in the last 50 years. I believe the computer has changed society the most. You cannot go anywhere without seeing a computer. Gas stations, ATM’s, McDonalds, etc. etc.
In the forties the computer was the size of a room and consumed tons of electricity. It’s the fastest growing product in the world. Here is an interesting fact, while it took the radio 38 years, and the television a short 13 years, it took the World Wide Web only 4 years to reach 50 million users. Over 90% of all businesses in the world use a computer. Look at Ebay the auction site. EBay has an average of $680 worth of transactions each second.
The computer I believe is the most important item ever created. It saves lives, makes millions to billions of dollars, and making lives easier.
LED lighting
LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, are a form of solid-state lighting that is exceptionally efficient and long-lasting. While incandescent and fluorescent lights consist of filaments in glass bulbs that contain gases, LEDs consist of small lenses in which tiny chips are placed on heat-conducting material.
