Social networking sites have gained so much growth and popularity which teenagers and young adults are the most avid users of these sites. According to various research studies in the field of online social networks, it has been revealed that these sites are impacting the lives of the youth greatly. News, trends, videos, pictures, and just about anything else can go “viral” in a matter of hours, which makes you wonder, what is all of the craze about? It is very easy to get carried away with the attention and interactions you can have twenty four hours a day on websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but what are the advantages and disadvantages that these social networking sites are having on our society?

The following are disadvantages of using social networking sites. As the youth tend to spend many hours on these sites, they rarely have face-to-face interaction. This will lead to lack of communication skills. Another is various people suggested included encouraging poor spelling and grammar, exposing underage to online predators, allowing spread of misinformation that is perceived as fact. We have also cyber bullying as a growing problem in our society. They are publicly harassing one another, and posting mean or rude things which are broadcasted to the social media.

Next are the advantages that the youth can be benefited. It is the fact that nowadays social network plays an essential role in teenagers’ lives. Well, social media helps the youth and any other user updated with what is happening around the world, help the teenagers
