Everyone by now know that in order to start a website one needs a domain name and a web host, however; that is only the beginning of many steps to design, publish, and maintain a website. Before starting on a website, one needs to think of an idea for their website. This topic or idea should be something that is greatly loved with strong passion. Having strong ideas is only a small part of building a website, identifying his or her market is the next step. One will need to know what type of audience they are trying to reach. How old are they? What are their interests? These questions will help make the website more useful to the audience. One-way to find out if the website will be successful, would be considering doing a keyword search to determine if other people are searching for the same topics. Finding a keyword that is in demand will help people locate the website and increase traffic in the future. Commitment is a major part of establishing a website. Time and especially money are major factors the one should put into their website. For instance, to create an everlasting e-business, one would need to spend lots time and money. However, making a website based on content one could spend less money and investment. Content websites are more competitive since anyone can make start one with quite ease. To make a profit from this site one would need provide information and generate income form the amount of traffic through advertisement. E-commerce sites on the other hand, sell products and will need more maintenance and attention. One will need to be aware of shipping, sales, order form security, inventory updates, and everything that a person with an offline storefront would have to manage.
A domain name needs to be registered before one can start designing their website. One should try to be very creative when developing a domain name because the catchy it is the more likely one will end up with more traffic. There are many ways to create and run a website without getting one hands dirty with code by using Notepad.exe or WYSIWYG web building software such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or else by using a Content Management System installed on the server which one can keep their site updated with no technical knowledge.
