Office automation system (OAS) | Office of a data-processing company | This allows information to flow easier throughout an office and this increases productivity. | This system allows data-processors to input data into spreadsheets or emails and other various methods that allows this information to travel quickly between office employees as well as customers. Prior to this people would have to physically deliver information to other employees and this was time-consuming and delayed responses back to customers and slowed down productivity. | With all the virtual interactions and various office programs information will continually be more accessible to different departments within an office or network and will allow productivity to improve as well as simplify the job of these employees. |
Expert System (ES) | Physician at a doctor’s office | This allows for one to get expert analysis or help quickly and electronically. An example of this would be WebMD that would allow a professional to get expert help on symptoms and aid the doctor in diagnosing illnesses more effectively and efficiently. This does not mean test will not need to be run but could advise a doctor on what test are more important to be performed initially. | This allows more researched and detailed information from an expert without having to ask a doctor for every little symptom and can save time with the information attained from these systems to help the doctor more efficiently utilize his or her time making the doctor’s office much more efficient. Prior to these systems one would have to explain symptoms to assistant and then the doctor would still have to go over everything again well now advanced information can be obtained to further assist the doctor. | This will allow the workload of doctors and health professionals to become more manageable because of electronic experts that can assist other health professionals take a more active role in helping doctors diagnose and treat illnesses in a more efficient manner. |
