Week Five Discussion Questions
One risk which is pointed out in the article is the finish product of the project not fulfilling an organization's requirements. This is one element of a project which must be evaluated earlier on to prevent this risk. The needs of a project must be evaluated carefully at the start of the project. Doing this will inform the team of the probability that this risk would impact the project. The information found out during this period will permit the team to use a project technique which permits change during each process, for example the SCRUM methodology.
Scrum methodologies are unique because it introduces the concept of empirical process control. Scrum methodologies use real-world progress of a project, not a best guess or uninformed forecast to plan and schedule releases. In Scrum, projects are divided into succinct work cadences, known as sprints, which are typically one week, two weeks, or three weeks in duration. At the end of each sprint, stakeholders and team members meet to assess the progress of a project and plan its next steps. This allows a project’s direction to be adjusted or reoriented based on the outcome of the work, not speculation or predictions.
One more risk pointed out is the end product not fulfilling needs required for the size of the company's project, which is being executed. This risk might be prevented by assessing other companies of matching size and the system they utilize. This will notify the team whether or not the expected item will be the correct size for the company.
