Background information

Dippin’ Dots (1988-Now), was officially founded in the town of New Grand Chain, IL in 1988 by Curt Jones, is a company that create beaded shape ice-cream and provide its product to its franchises around the world. In 1987, Curt Jones has invented a brand new ice-cream snack that created by flash freezing ice-cream with beaded shape which mix in liquid nitrogen. Later on, in 1992, Dippin’ Dots has register the patent of its own special shape of ice-cream. From now on, headquarter of Dippin’ Dots was set in Paducah, Kentucky, USA.

Mission Statement of Dippin’ Dots and its target market

“At Dippin’ Dots we want to put you in a good mood and offer you a unique experience every day.” It aims to create a unique experience to its customers by innovating ice-cream industry. By continuing experience and generation, Dippin’ Dots has succeed the promise to its customers.

At the first step, Dippin’ Dots has focused their customers on younger generation, by using its special shape of products to capture the children’s interest. Followed with the creation of this loyal customers group, the children may also want to share the snack to their surroundings, it may also help to build the potential customer group in adult market.

1988, Dippin’ Dots was first sold in Nashville, TN.

1990, Curt shifted production manufacturing facility to Paducah, Kentucky.

1995, Dippin’ Dots began to trade with Japan.

1998, firstly set up the vending machine.

2004, Online ordering and home delivery service is launched.

2011, Dippin’ Dots has faced financing problem and register for bankruptcy protection.

2012, U.S bankruptcy court approve Scott Fischer and his father Mark Fischer to purchase Dippin’ Dots, and Curt Jones would remain as CEO. They must attempt to increase from 1,600 sales locations to 2,000 and would keep the production and headquarters in Paducah where it employs 165 people.
