Mount Rushmore
If I was given the opportunity to choose the 5th face on Mount Rushmore, I would choose Martin Luther King Jr. I have always been inspired by the work of him and his dedication to what he believed in. Dr. King is as great as the other 4 faces on Mount Rushmore and should receive dedication as well. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired a lot of different people in many different ways, just like the other faces put on Mount Rushmore. He is one of the most significant leaders in history. Not only do I consider him a leader, but also a hero and peacemaker. He lived and died for what he believed in- that all men are created equal. Some of his work involved organizing and leading marches for the right to vote, desegregation, and other civil rights. Eventually he helped put an end to segregation and changed the ways of America. Martin Luther King Jr. had a community of followers who trusted in him completely. He stopped at nothing to achieve justice for his country. Another reason I consider Dr. King a hero is because he did his work in nonviolent ways. He often reflected on his understanding of nonviolence. Personally, I think that is one of the most courageous things of all. To not only pursue his dream, but to do it in a peaceful way. Dr. King’s words and perseverance paved the way for people of all different races to come together and be one voice for our country.
