America’s Five Founding Ideals
Throughout Europe, people were unsatisfied with the way things were. The king treated them unfairly and there was a lot of disease and sickness going around. The United States offered what they wanted and that is what convinced them to leave. The American colonial period started in 1607 and ended in 1763. America’s five founding ideals are Liberty, Equality, Democracy, Opportunity and Rights. Some ideals lacked improvement during the colonial period but others were greatly shaped. The colonial period played a pivotal role in shaping America’s five founding ideals by having rights, treating people equally, and by having freedom for people in the United States and for people who go there.
Throughout the colonial time Liberty has been greatly shaped and shown in many documents. The Preamble of the United States constitution helped shape the ideal of liberty in America by giving freedom to their people. Liberty is the freedom to think or act without being limited by unnecessary force. During this time people were not treated equally and did not get the freedom they wanted and this got them mad. The Preamble of the United States constitution stated “And secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosterity…”. Which is allowing them the right to be free and be successful on their own.
During American colonial times nobody was treated equally and that was a problem back then. People were not accepted and could not express themselves the way they wanted. The Declaration of Independence helped with shaping equality by giving every person a chance no matter what everyone else thought. Equality is the condition of being equal. As stated in the document “That all men are created equal”; everyone should be treated the same. It should not matter what a person's ranking is or what race someone is. Everybody is going to have a different perspective on something and you might not agree but that should not make somebody less of a person. Also in the document Common Sense it says “Men in all ranks have embarked in controversy, from different motives, and with various designs” , which means men from different rankings have a say too.
