The English colonies in the Chesapeake and New England regions differed due to search for different quests. Socially, the Chesapeake region was more diverse than the New England region. Also, the Chesapeake region political system wasn't as strict as the New England region political system.
Economically, the Chesapeake and New England regions differed due to the fact how they profited their money. The Chesapeake region settlers came to the New World to profit. However, the settlers from the New England region just came for religious freedom; thus, they really were not looking to profit anything. Also, the New England region really did not just invest in one large crop like the Chesapeake region, but more into different artisan industries like carpentry. Also, it was difficult to grow crops in the New England region because of the poor rocky soil. The Chesapeake region relied on the tobacco and corn crops for profit.
The Chesapeake region was more diverse in population while the New England region was not. The Chesapeake region consisted of English and slaves; particularly, Africans. The New England was predominantly English. Also, the New England region was stricter on religion since they were Congregationalists and they were settled by people who were strong about religion. While, the Chesapeake region was Anglican it was more liberal and soft. Also, the southern colonies were made up by a social ladder consisting of five sections.
The New England colonies were under strict democratic law. Also, each town had a town government and they held monthly meetings. The Chesapeake region was a legislative that was owned by aristocrats. Since the people in the southern colonies were more spread out, they operated on county governments. Also, the Chesapeake region utilized the House of Burgesses, it was formed by settlers, and the London Co. permitted them to do so.
