The use of the term globalism started around 1950s, Economists like Adam Smith started to use the contemporary concept of economic globalism for his liberal theory and thinking. Webster International Dictionary includes the term like globalize in 1961 while Oxford Dictionary included it in 1986, which firstly appeared in Reiser and Davies (1944).  The term globalization was firstly seen in an article in Spectator magazine in 1962 (Dilip K. Das). Then the equivalent taxonomy had been developed especially in business and economics area. The real boom of the concept began in the 1960 s and 70 s, the significant sign is that the concept of globalism had achieved universality and practicality. Universality means that the use of the idea and proposition of globalism had extended from the narrow circle of scholars to ordinary people, from the European and American countries to all over the world; Practicality, means that the concept and proposition of globalism is no longer only engaging in  idle theorizing, it permeated popular consciousness .This suggests that globalism entered into a new era, while corporeal and functional forms globalism is more than two thousand years, it has historical root. This essay analyses the antecedent of the concept of globalism and investigate how the concept was developed and gained its meaning over time. To be noticed, although globalism can be treated as inclusive category for associated terms like globalization and globalize. The essay will draw a clear distinction between these terms and will stick to the word and concept of globalism only.

Globalism is a state of world including networks of interdependence at cross-continental distances. The link and relation occur via flows and influences of goods, information, ideas, people and forces (Keohane & Nye, 2000). It is defined as the dominant matrix of ideologies and subjectivities in relation to different historical establishment of global expansion Jame, 2006). Rome Empire, which extended between the Middle East North Africa and the Great Britain, unified their empire by establishing complex and extensive transport system, common language, law and regulations as well as currency (Das, 2009). By doing this, Roman Empire attempted to unite the civilized world under the philosophy of “imperial right”. To be noticed, Christianity has also plays an important part in the formation of the early concept of globalism, during the Rome period, they had won perhaps 10 per cent of the empire's population and it became much easier to spread Christianity with official favour. Christian writers started to claim that both church and empire were works of God. By the time Rome collapsed, Christianity thus had demonstrated great spiritual power and had a solid organization; they have local imperial desires to form a received wisdom of how the western world should be developed, which is similar to Rome’s imperial right philosophy.
