Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream” speech is one of the most influential speeches of all time. This speech took place in a time and era where conflicting issues between races was an everyday accordance. The influence and motivation that Dr. King was able to provide was much needed in the black community.

Dr. King’s speech pattern allows him to speak clearly and slowly in a very effective manner while still being a firm direct speaker that is able to get his point and views across to a broad variety of people whether they are well educated or a someone who has not had the opportunity for education.

Dr. King’s ability to use slower, direct, and firm speech patterns and also using good grammar and having the ability to sound, look, and show that he was very serious and passionate about what he was talking about. You can tell by watching or listening to this speech that he had everyone’s full attention.

This speech was and still is amazing. Dr. King’s Speech changed many people’s lives and opinions about a very bad situation. Without this speech we may not be where we are today as far as everyone “getting along” because in a lot of ways Dr. King opened the door and paved the way.

I admire Dr. King’s speech; if I could have been there I would have been there holding hands around in a circle with everyone and praising him for his openness and his ability to speak to the public in such a persuasive way.
