While reflecting on what Martin Luther King once said; “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education.” If he was here and saw my day to day grades, he would see potential and intelligence, but no character or determination to finish the way I started.
Lately, I have stopped caring about my grades. I guarantee Martin Luther King would be disappointed for the 70’s and 80’s this six weeks. He, who didn’t have the easier life, made it through college with challenges of his race and color, but today, we are not doing any effort to finish strong. I speak for myself, and I know I have not put my effort into school. If he was here, he would tell me I can do better and achieve many things if I put my time and dedication into it.
On the bright side, an area that he would praise me in is my first six week’s work. I know I did a good job with turning my work on time, getting good grades on my test, and more, but I also know that I have been disappointing myself. With all the problems I have caused, I start to want to give up. For this reason, as the weeks have passed by, I am no longer as good as I was my first six weeks because like I said, I am giving up. I have been doing so terrible now, but it’s my fault for doing so little and poor. I can also imagine Martin Luther King saying that if I had finished the way I started, I would have accomplished much more.
Furthermore, if Martin Luther King could help me with my weaknesses, he would encourage me to work on my math skills, and studying harder for my geography tests so I can improve my grade in tests and homework. I also know that I am giving too much time to my friends and texting besides doing what I am suppose to do, so there is something I could work on in getting better at managing time.
Finally, I would want to discuss with him the fact that I am not being the best student.
