Big businesses grew to have a major effect on the economics and politics of the Unites States, especially between the period of 1870 trough 1900.The numbers grew to be a large amount that they were known to be one of the major forces within the United States, with good amount of power and the ability to control much with the United States. Although, while this power increased, it can be informed that big businesses impacted the United States. It is important that while the big businesses grew, the high-class men gained the power from the poor men, who on the other hand suffered and the high-class men are just taking over it. Individuals were taken advantage of rather than positively integrated within this capitalistic, industrial system.

The United States was controlled by particular groups of power than were divided into Captains of Industry. For example the people that were included was Rockefeller, J.P., Morgan, and Carnegie. These businessmen were truly what we can call high class and pretty wealthy. However as the period of time they had gained their power and came to control 1/3 of the wealth of the United States. After they would buy out the respective businesses of their competitors, they would subject their works to cruel and demeaning conditions. Not only were the working conditions dirty, but also the times the quality of items reduced due to the long working hours and extremely minimal pay that workers were worked to.

Also, Immigrants even came over to the United States in order to fill the demands in search of a new life. This includes individuals such as the Chinese, Eastern Europeans, Hispanics, and even more. With the increased arrival of workers, the population increased while sanitation decreased. Although, in factories, big business owners gave up quality for mass production to make more money. Most of the times, the workers would work up to 12-hour days, without much pay or rest. They were like human robots because they will work
