Linus Torvalds is not a common name in history, his contribution is one that is overlooked yet used every day. Linus Torvalds is the inventor of the Linux Kernel, which is a computer operating system (OS). The Linux Kernel isn’t as mainstream as Microsoft Windows or Apple IOS; the reason for that is because Linus Torvalds did one thing the other companies did not, he made it free to everyone! Linux is what’s called freeware, and because of that more people worldwide are able to download it, use it, improve it, and customize your network with it in a way that you just can’t with the pay to use OS’s. The Linux OS is the new backbone of the internet with more and more people and companies relying on the easy to use and easy to customize OS to create their webpages and networ5ks.

Linux has made its way into more applications and devices that are used daily by the world’s population and many people don’t even realize; everyday devices like smart phones that run on Android OS and smart TV’s all run with a Linux OS as it backbone.

Since its creation Linux has been used for a variety of different applications and devices. The most used Linux adaption would be Google Chrome. Google has boosted 1 billion active Chrome users monthly.
