The concept of motivation is quite prevalent in theory for us, the ‘Organizational Behavior’ students. But this concept and its theories are of paramount importance in any organization or sector especially when it’s one of the most dynamic drivers of our Indian economy- The IT Sector. The Project titled- ‘Application of Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory of Motivation in IT Sector’ is a step in this direction only- to know how hygiene factors and motivators defined by a management thinker as good as Herzberg are still applicable or not? The survey which was conducted online has given me a positive response in relation to the age old Herzberg’s theory. But the project report also entails a small comparison of the booming sector’s growth with comparison to the attrition rate in the same- through telephonic interviews few respondents were asked about their experience in the last IT firm in which they worked and why did they leave (if at all they themselves left the firm).
