Bad Boy Essay

“Bad Boy” an autobiography by Walter Dean Myers

Have you ever done something bad before; even if it was small? Imagine making the smallest mistakes but still being called a bad person. This is what it was like in the life of Water Dean Myers. Everyone thought he was a bad boy because he made some small mistakes. Walter was smart and a very good person. He was anything but a bad boy.

Walter was always one of the smartest kids in his class. He even got moved up a grade. He used his talent very well. Even though people made fun of him, he still got through school. Walter was a great kid in school. Well, at least academically. Walter did have some trouble dealing with bullies and other children his age. Other than that, he was an outstanding student. He was one of his teachers’ favorites when it came to reading. He was always caught reading in class. Overall, Walter was pretty great with his grades.

Other than doing great in class, Walter was also great at home. He loved helping his Mother with cleaning, cooking, and taking care of others. He was there for her when she needed him. Walter had some friends around the block that he would hang out with. He made a few silly mistakes every now and then, but he was very socially inclined. He told stories and read books to others all the time. Walter was there for his relatives when his uncle passed away. He helped them through grief when they needed it the most. This not only makes Walter Dean Myers a very helpful person, but a caring one too. Walter was certainly not a bad boy like everyone thought he was.

With being smart and a nice guy, Walter Dean Myers was no kind of bad boy. He made some bad choices at times in his life, but Walter corrected them by doing what was right. He was an amazing person that was there for everybody. What kind of bad boy is this, you say. The answer is none.
