Growing up
I was the second daughter out of three girls of Emilio and Esmeralda. I do not remember much of my early childhood days, but my Mom told me that when I was young I was a very active, communicative and always have a big appetite. My Mom mentioned that when I was enrolled in Kindergarten, I was very independent since I did not cry or go crazy every time they leave me in school compared to my other classmates.
As I continue to grow and entered into Grade School, I was aware that my parents are not on good terms and keep on fighting. There was one instance when I was in the room where my Mom and Dad was fighting and my dad got violent and unintentionally threw his luggage to where I was sitting. Fortunately, my Mom was there to shield the luggage that was supposed to hit me. And through that, my Mom decided to leave the house with my sisters and I without telling my Dad. Even though they got separated, I maturely accepted it and my feelings towards my parents never change unlike other people who hold grudges.
Living with my Mom and my sisters, I got used to having girls around me as well as being enrolled in an exclusive catholic school for girls. It was easy for me to make friends in school since we could all relate to each other. During Grade School, I can never forget how bad my behavior was. I never share my food to my friends because I want it all to myself and how spoiled I was to the point that I would cry and shout inside the mall just for my Dad to buy the shoes I want. I also remember fighting with my sisters a lot because of petty reasons. I was never the type of student who plays and runs during recess and lunch time because I was too lazy to even stand but instead I just gossip with my friends. I was also the type of student who had long and straight hair because it was always my Mom who would cut my hair.
In terms of my academic standing, I was never that smart especially in Mathematics and I was never part of the Top 10 in my class. My parents never pressured me to get high grades. They said that as long as I get to learn new things every day, pass all my subjects and receive a diploma, they will be grateful. Grade school was also a time when my first ever menstruation came and I was in Grade 3. I was the first one in our batch to have it and I had no idea how to handle it. When I turned Grade 6, it was a rebellious year for me since it was the time when I learned to go out with my friends without asking permission from my parents or would tell them that I have a project for school. I did not care about my home works or my quizzes and my grades really went down to the point when I thought that I would not graduate grade school.
