India is one of the largest diverse and populated countries in the world. Some would say that it has one of the most interesting histories. India has more than forty languages and roughly 1600 dialects. India is home to different plants and animals not found anywhere else in the world. States fought each other for a long time until they were united by the Gupta and Maurya Empires fell. Islam also united India 600 years later after the Gupta and Maurya Empires. Hinduism is the primary religion in India today with about 80% of the population and cows are a sacred animal because of the Hindu religion. It is the only country with tigers and lions. Many people are vegetarian and don’t eat meat due to family and culture. Society is broken up into classes or castes and there is no way to change your caste. Castes were originally outlawed but as time went by, it became a way of life. Because of its location, India experiences monsoons that water the plants and help irrigation. It was controlled by Britain until after WW2 when under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi was a leader who united the people to peacefully protest the British rule. Women wear a sari which is made out of cotton or silk and colorful and many men wear the dhoti which is a white piece of cloth. Marital arts and chess were created in India. Indian food is all over the world because of people who migrated to other countries. It is a major part of social and political life.
Indian food is all around the world because of people who migrated to other countries from India bring with them their ideas, beliefs, food, etc. and shared it with different people who actually liked the food. The Indian cuisine combines all tastes possible and it is bound to please all types of eaters (spicy-lovers. salty, etc.) All tongues like the cuisine because you can change the taste of the food with a few ingredients. People that live in different countries can feel like they are at home in India because they taste the same flavors as they did back in their homeland before actually migrating. Many people migrated from India because the country was overpopulated and they wanted to get out of it.
Each state in India has their own traditions, cultures, lifestyle, and food. Not only does each state have different kinds of food, each household has a different way to make the food. They have their own secret recipes and cooking styles. You won’t find two houses that cook the same way. They use different powders and pastes to hold the backbone of the dish. Each state uses the ingredients that grow in its region in almost every dish. In the south, coconut trees are common everywhere and in the north, other agricultural products are used. The East love mustard and fish while the west used a form called fusion because it adopted western ingredients.
