• Motivation is defined as a process that initiates us into achieving our goals. Motivation can be anything, for example, it would motivation to get water to reduce your thirst.

• There are three major components to motivation: activation, persistence, and intensity.

- Activation: This involves initiating the action. For example, you could be getting up to get water.

- Persistence: This is when you continue towards your goal. An example would be continuing to walk downstairs to get water.

- Intensity: This can be noticed in how hard you are trying to achieve your goal. For example, this would be how fast you are moving to get the water.

• There are two types of motivation which include extrinsic and intrinsic.

- Extrinsic: This is when you have an external motivator. An example would be kids, wife, or family.

- Intrinsic: This is an internal motivator, and an example of this would be wanting to earn a certain degree for yourself.

• The theories of emotions are instincts, drives and needs, and arousal levels.

- Instinct: This suggests motivation is driven by instincts.

- Drives and needs: This theory states that biological needs drives motivation.

- Arousal levels: People engage in activities that help maintain arousal levels. vation
