The Catcher in the Rye Unit Plan

-Reading Schedule: From Jan. 12th-Feb 2nd you are expected to read about 10 pages a day. (You can always read ahead). Before you read a chapter, look at the chapter questions. As you read lookout for the answers. These will become our class discussion questions for the next class. Be sure to print out the questions and bring your notebook or journal to class in order to take notes.

-As you read, you need to become familiar with the vocabulary from the novel. The words and short definitions are provided for you on the worksheets below. Make yourself familiar with these words as you will be quizzed on them and the novel periodically.

-You are expected to contribute to the online discussion. You can find it under our class on www.turnitin.com. You are expected to write at least a 200 word answer to one of the questions and then a 100 word response/comment on another student’s post. There are 2 due dates: Jan. 18th, Feb 1st. You will follow the Argument, Example, Explanation format. A sample can be found at the end of this document. This will help you with essay writing as well.

-Creative project due Feb. 12th See options and expectations below.
