Races In The United States of America

Diversity often occurs in everywhere and every day in our life. The meaning of diversity is the differences among people. Diversity awareness is where we as human have the ability to embrace the uniqueness of all individuals differences such as ethnicity, race, gender, religious beliefs, age, physical abilities, political beliefs, and socio-economic status. Amongst all those that are mention above, we would like to focus on the topic of diversity awareness of races in United State of America. Races refer to a category of people who share certain inherited physical characteristics, such as skin colour, facial features, and stature. (Smedley, 1998, p. 690) America is known as a place with the most diverse races, and it is a multicultural society. For a multicultural country like America, racism will occurs. Racism is also known as racial discrimination, the meaning of it is an unfair treatment or bias for somebody or a group of people on the basic of their race.

In most kindergarten or schools, children and teenagers are not being well educated on diversity awareness. Surveys have been conducted and the results show that most of them prefer to communicate and interact with others who have same physical characteristic, which the most common characteristics are the physical appearance and their origins. Moreover, the factor which is more disappointing is that adults or even educated professionals also are doing the same. Therefore, this will cause an invisible wall to build between different races because most of the people prefer to stay in same ethnic group. This wall weaken the unity of people which is important to keep the nation’s heart in one direction.

Besides, most companies in the states do not hire people diversely in races because the percentage employees that work for their respective companies are majority white and minority are the other races. Most of them which are not white are only allowed to work jobs which have low pay such as janitors, cashier, security guard and etcetera.

Research shows that a company that hired employees that diverse from races, genders, nationalities and ages will perform better than company that are hired employees from same races. A company that hires different races can market their products to many countries successfully. The reason for it is because of the company’s diverse workforce can gives useful information about how to sell their product to the different countries which have different cultures in contrasts of customers in the states. 

In today’s society, many people and nations practice racial discrimination, especially in United States of America. In the past people of America often discriminate people like calling the African-Americans “black people “. But in this age where everyone is knowledgeable, people slowly change this habit of discriminating people. In some matter, they still practice racial discrimination. To create a country with races diversity awareness people, we have to solve the problem of racial discrimination.
