Life, in Spit of Me by Kristen Jane Anderson is about a seventeen year old girl who thought she only had one option but God had other plans for her. Anderson felt like she was alone in this world and no one loved her. She felt as if everyone would have a better life if she wasn't in it. Anderson felt hopeless and didn't know where to turn.

Anderson felt it might be easier if she would take her own life. She thought everyone might feel relief. She figured everyone would be happy she was gone. On one cold January night Anderson walked to the playground, down the road from her house. She felt scared and alone. Anderson would swing back and forth on the swing and think about how much pain and suffering she has caused her family and friends. After swinging for a while Anderson heard a train whistle blow. She thought maybe this is my time to go, maybe I should die tonight. The train got closer and closer her heart began to race. As Anderson laid down on the train track waiting patiently for the train to end her pain and suffering. As the train ran over her body she felt numb as if she was already dead. As thirty-three freight cars passed over her at fifty-five miles per hour she felt helpless.

Anderson laid across the tracks, wondering why she was still alive. When she looked down she seen nothing. Anderson's legs were gone. Anderson looked around and seen her legs ten feet away. She thought this had to be a dream "why would I do this", she thought. As she laid there suffering hollaring for help but no one could hear her. As hours passed she finally got rescued and taken to the hospital. At the hospital she seen her mom, dad, brother and her sister. She was confused and didn't know what happened to her.

Anderson didn't know she had tried to commit suicide. She didn't think she was strong enough too. Anderson thought to herself why would I do this? Before Anderson's acccident she lost her grandmother. Anderson blamed herself for the death of her grandma. She thought maybe if she would have spent more time with her it wouldn't have happened. One of Anderson's good friend commited suicide, not to long before she tried too. This made it extremely difficult for Anderson. She didn't know where to turn or what to do. She thought things coudn't get worse. One night she got a call from her friend Eric. He invited her and some of her friends to a party. Anderson has always liked Eric. She started to drink a little and got a little intoxicated.
