NARRATIVE REPORT

Civic Welfare Training Service

Introduction

“Build, Educate, Inspire, Empower and be the Change” a line from the famous philosopher Plato, I excerpt this quotation in my introduction as a citizen of our country because we can do a big difference in every action we made. This action may result negative or positive impact to others and it can change the routine of our generations. So, our role as a youth citizen of our country is to change what’s is bad in our society.

As per required on my curriculum this 1st semester, we are required to undergo the NSTP (National Service Training Program). According to my source Filamer “NSTP refers to the program aimed to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth, by developing their ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of the three (3) program components, the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), the Literacy Training Service (LTS) and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), especially designed to enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general welfare. For me, I choose CWTS where in it is designed on contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry"

MY EXPERIENCE

On the first day of the NSTP our assigned room is at the UE Theatre for the discussion of some of our professors and visitors particularly on the core values which are the MAKADIYOS, MAKATAO, MAKA-KALIKASAN, and MAKABANSA. I learned many lessons upon listening to the discussion like the one who tackled by Dr. Pinlac about the Protection against women and children.

On the first day of class in our assigned room our teacher mentioned that our project is to improve and beautify our assigned area which is the Plaza Noli at Lealtad, Sampaloc Manila. Our teachers plan in the area is to paint the gazebo at the plaza which serves as a lounge of the residents to rest. It is located at center of an intersection in their barangay. Our teacher tells as to form a group to be assigned on some of the street particularly T. Alfonso, V. Alindada, M.T. Halili, and T. Anzures to conduct a clean-up drive along the streets. I was assigned in T. Alindada with the Group 4.

On the first day of immersion we have obliged to pay 7 pesos for the fare riding a jeepney going to Plaza Noli. In our first immersion we arrived at our destination late because of the traffic which is the effect of the flood control construction along the highway going to Plaza Noli. When we arrive, the first thing we do is talked with the barangay officials to coordinate and have a picture taking. Upon surveying the place I notice that the children’s use the Gazebo as their playground. Another is that, it serves as a terminal of the jeepneys going to Quiapo and taxi drivers who are taking their rest. We also notice that paints around it are fading so repainting is needed. We also survey the streets nearby the gazebo so that we will know the place of our assigned street to be cleaned.
